Addressing an event held in Weeraketiya on Monday, June 22, Minister Sajith Premadasa said that the President and Prime Minister are committed towards enacting the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.
The event was held under the auspices of Minister Sajith Premadasa to lay the foundation stone to mark the commencement of the renovation of the area opposite the Weeraketiya Central College at a cost of Rs.130.5 million.
Minister of Housing and Samurdhi, Sajith Premadasa stated that the President and the Prime Minister have arrived at a clear stance that the electoral system must be changed, and the 20th Amendment to the constitution must be enacted.
He went on to note that, as the government of good governance, they are bound to give priority to the needs and wants of the general public.
He added that there are rumours that are being spread that the UNP is against the 20th Amendment and that there is a rift between the President and the Prime Minister.
He further stated that no one can break the government of good governance.
